Peace Out, USA

Hello Gamecocks! Today, I’m heading out from Chicago to fly to Prishtina and kick off my Peacebuilding in Kosovo program! I’m super excited to start this adventure, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little sad to leave my friends and family behind.

For preparation, I procrastinated a bit and started packing just yesterday. I was told to pack light but we all know that is easier said than done! After trying my best to keep things minimal, I still somehow ended up with a full suitcase and a carry-on. To be fair, the program includes both a study tour and an internship, so I had to be ready for any occasion. Fingers crossed I didn’t forget anything (but to be honest, I probably did)!
Before taking off for the next three months, I made sure to hit all the American classics. My friends and I went to 7 Brew, ate a Chili’s Triple Dipper, and watched the MDW fireworks with a hotdog in hand. I might get a little homesick, but honestly, I think I’ll be too busy enjoying my experience in Prishtina.

I’m so excited to be heading to Kosovo and can’t wait to dive into all the learning and experiences ahead. We’ve already gotten a bit of information for some of the incredible events we’ll be attending, like the International Forum on Women, Peace and Security on our first day of class!
That’s all from me today, next update will be from the ground in Kosovo! Let the adventure begin!
