Hi guys! My name is Michelle Wu and I am a third year Darla Moore student completing her study abroad semester. I'm typing this out right as I am sitting in the airport, preparing to fly out to Seoul, Korea. Honestly, it hasn't hit me yet that I'm going to be in a country that I've never been to before for four whole months. I'm getting to Seoul around two weeks before classes officially start to get used to the area and learn the public transport system. To prepare for my study abroad in Korea, I've started learning basic Korean through an app called Teuida. My friend also got me a little book of useful phrases to know in Korea. I also read up on how to get around on public transport. To ride the subway, you have two choices-- use a T-money card or a Climate card. I have opted for the Climate card (if you would like to know why, feel free to contact me). I joined many group chats through Whatsapp, Instagram, and KakaoTalk. Study abroad is and will always be a stressful experience at times. There are many things that I'm worried about, such as how I will find the buildings my classes are in or how will I ask for directions if I'm lost. I'm also worried about my appointment to get my ARC, since wait times can be very uncertain (like getting your visa). There are many more things I'm excited about as well! I'm excited to make many new friends. I'm excited to try new foods and drinks. I'm excited to get a KU varsity jacket. I'm excited to go to Olive Young. I'm excited to rent Hanboks and visit the palaces. I'm excited to take my classes at KU. Finally, I'm excited to take you on my study abroad journey in Korea!
